Paithani Sarees originated from the “Paithan” town in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. The borders of the Saree are Kaleidoscope design in which two different colour threads are woven lengthwise and widthwise by oblique squares. The saree is filled with golden spots and possess huge intricate design on its pallu. “Banarasi Saree” is a Saree that finds its origin in Varanasi, the holy city in Uttar Pradesh, formerly known as Benares (Banaras). Here the body of the Saree is Jacquard fabric woven on to the main fabric followed by Rabari embroidery. The Jacquard fabric has symmetric fine details of “Hathi Motif”, “Hathi” being “Elephant” and “Motif” being Rabari Embroidery pattern encompassing the body of the Saree.
